I use bookmarks to location only several key lines, which can change depending on what my current focus need of editing is. I don't get the point of "a huge list of bookmarks". With regard to naming bookmarks and generating them, as what I can imagine, they will not be very easy/friendly to use, I am afraid.

Still, I think bookmarks would be nice to use (on that occasion where you have a 5,000 line file). BBEdit uses shift-cmd-j for add bookmark and Visual Studio uses ctrl-k. ctrl-p can do goto-file, goto-line, but not goto-symbol (yet, there is ctrl-r for that).

Honestly, I remember the line number, function, or symbol name. However, I suspect that is not a good place to do a survey, for there are not many users watching.
